When it comes to glitz and glamour, no other entrepreneur can reach the milestones set by Brazilian hotelier Guilherme Paulus in the tour industry in Brazil. Apart from being a hotelier, Guilherme Paulus is an entrepreneur among the list of Board of Advisors at the CVC Brasil tour company and the GJP Hotels and Resorts.
The brand hotels and resorts have had a successful run in the Brazilian market bosting of several locations spread throughout the country. It is through the effort and fortitude of Guilherme Paulus that the brand has become internationally recognized as one of the largest tour companies in Latin America.
The concept of the brand hotels and resorts started developing while Guilherme Paulus was still at a tender age. At 24 years old, Mr. Paulus with the help of co-founder Vicente Cerchlari took the big step in 1972. Little did they know four decades later, they would be setting the pace for the tour industry in Latin America.
The idea was suggested during a ship trip but little thought was given to it. At the time, Mr. Paulus was working at Casa Faro. Fortunately, he took the challenge and the rest as they say is history.
But his rise to the top of the food chain has not been a walk in the park. Mr. Paulus’ journey started off as an intern for IBM. It is here that he managed to craft his skills into one of the most influential entrepreneurs in Brazil.
The GJP Hotels and Resorts increased its portfolio with operations of over 20 hotels and resorts. In Brazil, the hotels are in Maceio, Recife, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. It is a vital part of the economy managing over 5,000 employees.
Some of his philanthropic works include noble causes such as the PIET project which offers educational opportunities to the disadvantaged teenagers of Brazil.
Ever since the conception of his first hotel back in 1995, a following of more than one hundred thousand have come through the doors of his luxurious hotels and resorts. Last year was a good one for the hotelier managing to accommodate 6 million tourists. With the future being bright, he still hopes to increase the growth of 2000 stores by 2020.
