putting it all together

Greg Blatt has had a fantastic career in the world of digital media. His long list of accomplishments includes founding both AOL and Huffington Post and serving as chairman for NBCUniversal. Recently he published a post on MassNews titled “The formative magic of Telluride.” He talks about how his time spent in Telluride shaped him into the person he is today.

He is the CEO of both Match.com and Tinder, as well as CEO of IAC, Greg Blatt learned how to gain traction in an ever-changing industry. This type of leadership requires not only creativity but flexibility in adapting and modifying goals when necessary.

Blatt says in the summer of 1978, he arrived in Telluride as an 18-year-old wide-eyed kid with a backpack and a guitar. It was his first time away from home, and he had no idea what to expect. But something about the place – the mountains, the air, the community – called to him. Over the next few months, he fell in love with Telluride and all it had to offer: its natural beauty, its sense of community, its endless possibilities.

Greg Blatt talks about how his experiences in Telluride shaped his professional career. He credits the town with giving him “the confidence to take risks and pursue my dreams.” And he’s not alone; many other successful entrepreneurs have credited the city with shaping them into who they are today.

In 1977, a group of entrepreneurs from California were looking for an area to open up a ski resort and had their eyes on Telluride as a prime location. They tried to purchase land to build one but couldn’t find any sellers willing. So instead of getting discouraged by this setback, they decided that fate told them not to develop the town further at all costs.

Instead, they helped create community centers and ensured everyone felt included regardless of background or money. This inclusive mentality gave rise to some fantastic people throughout history, including Greg Blatt! In his article, he points out how important it is “that we go beyond our comfort zones, that we reach out and form relationships with people who are different from us.”

Blatt has long been an advocate for the town of Telluride. He is a member of the board of directors for the Telluride Foundation, which helps support educational opportunities in the area. And he’s not just talking; he puts his money where his mouth is too. Blatt has made significant contributions to help fund various programs in Telluride, including a scholarship program that sends local kids to college.Read this article for additional information.
