The Giants CEO have always been a brand that’s identified with the best in baseball. When the Giants hired him as CEO, he succeeded a large ownership group that had operated the team for decades. He spent the next year investing in the team’s business operations and with the task of transforming a non-competitive team into a serious contender.

Under SF Giants CEO leadership, the Giants have made the playoffs four times in five seasons, have played in two World Series, and won three championships. Numerous media outlets consider him one of the most respected figures in Major League Baseball and have named him the Sportsperson of the Year in 2012.

During Larry Baer’s tenure as CEO, the Giants and MLB implemented several reforms, including expanded drug testing, expanded domestic violence reporting, instituting an incentive-laden drug testing program, and expanded the Giants Safe Athlete Program.

Larry Baer helped secure $25 million in funding to support youth baseball programs in California and was the first major league team president to embrace the nonprofit media resource MLB Network.

Larry Baer is a member of the Academy of Achievement, has been honored with the University of California Berkeley’s Alumni of the Year award, and received the Society of Professional Journalists’ Lifetime Achievement Award. He is a Board of trustees’ member of the University of California Foundation and the School of Global Policy and Strategy.

The SF Giants CEO is a founder of the Economic Club of New York, which he serves as chairman emeritus. Larry Baer’s vision of baseball is one that always seeks to elevate the game’s reputation, even to include increased diversity.
